~Crazy Shoes! Shoe Crazy!~

Next to a carat or three, shoes have to got to be a Girls' Best Friend! Reading this, if you are anything like me, you may have a collection that is vast, in colour, style, once-worn-only-shoes, some you live in, some you can't wait to get off your feet after walking in them for a few minutes- those go to shoes when you're in a rush and they just happen to be there-that special pair you keep in the trunk of your car or close to the foot pedals to get into once you've 'showed off' that spectacular elegant of a pair and can't wait to get them off your feet for fear of falling over them - slave to fashion shoes- to the regular flip flops that you can easily access in your bathroom or close to your back door!  Sigh, that's a load of shoes, most of us are proud of!

I have always hated my feet, throughout my obese days, my feet were always the enemy...short, fat, shoe-stuffing, shoe-spilling irritants for pedals!   I have mostly always struggled with shoe choices - and have mostly always settled for the most comfortable shoes (don't we all?)  Coming from an obese background, the safest shoe choices have been the flat soled or slightly raised soled shoes to give maximum comfort and support and promote walking.  Even though my shoe collection grew, with a few elegant pairs that stood more like white elephants, I could never reconcile myself with my feet...no matter how many compliments I received on the shoes, there was always the nagging thought "I wish my feet looked better so that I would wear those shoes instead of those shoes wearing me".   I guess I resigned myself to the fact that my feet would always be fat and unsightly.

A lot has changed in the recent past to make me fall in love with shoes, and my feet!  Having lost about 35% of my former self in body weight, my feet have shrunk!  Not only shrunk, but are now becoming more defined, with natural lines form fitting into normal store bought shoes...no overfill or spillage, no turning sides while walking and no tripping clumsily as in the past.  I wear heels with pride and correctness, no weight-causing-bends-or with the heel being left behind with each stride  I take.  i love that new bought shoes are now retaining the shape that they were bought in! Being lighter on my body, means being lighter on and in my feet too!

Never being attracted to fitness shoes or trainers as they are commonly known, I recall about two years ago when my interest was piqued after a relative told me that there were shoes that could make you lose weight!!!  Having tried so many pills and potions through the years, and thinking that this could be the answer to my prayers, naturally I wanted a pair of these weight loss shoes.  These shoes are said to be favored by Heidi Klum and Gwenyth Paltrow and are reputed to increase muscle, back, behind, leg and stomach strengthening and toning, while just standing or walking...known as MBT shoes or Masai Barefoot Technology, physiological footwear,  produced for walking in the sand, and although similar to the Kim Kardashian endorsed Skechers Shape Ups, these shoes are just plain ugly. But yes, I finally started acknowledging that it's not the shoes that cause the weightloss, but what you do in them...and the effectiveness in how you do it is what is at stake.  Reading up on them and while they are billed as being the worlds' smallest gym, three times more effective than regular training shoes, and further support increased muscle activity, increased circulation and good posture and works well with core strengthening activity, I will stick with my Adidas and Nikes', thank you!

I would love to comfortably wear a pair of  9 or even 10 inch heels just once in the near future and I guess I can chase that dream -   I have dreams, shoe dreams, big shoe dreams actually, of those long elegant inched heels, thinking Louboutin's and Blahnik's....and actually trying them out and looking at them on my feet to see if the same feet that could never grace those shoes before, actually stand a chance now - and while I dream, I continue with putting my
